Earlier this summer, I announced that I would be leaving the HSU Alumni Office this August because I had accepted a teaching position at Baird HS, which would allow for a more family-friendly work schedule. A few weeks later, the HSU Board of Young Associates held their summer meeting. At the end of their business session, they surprised me with a going-away gift, which consisted of a very sweet card and $500 that they had collected on the sly for our adoption fund.
I had planned on telling them at the end of the meeting how much I had enjoyed getting to know them and working with them to help them to accomplish some great things for HSU. When they gave me the card and told me what they had done, I was so overcome with emotion, that I was nearly speechless. I know that is a shock for some of you who really know me! All I could really muster up without bawling was a “Thank You.”
More than a week has passed, and I am still so overwhelmed by the kindness of their gesture. I am also in awe of the way that God moves people to invest in the life of a little one who probably hasn’t even been born yet. Thank you BYA for your generosity and encouragement.
